Mid Annandale AFC aim to provide football coaching and matches at all levels in the local community. This project was the latest in a series of improvements to the clubs’ facilities.

Some of the installation project inconvenienced public grounds that bordered the facility. As a result, the main priority was to make sure that everything remained safe at all times throughout the installation.

Our Approach

The management team at Nairn Construction Ltd. began planning and organising the Project by completing the required contract health and safety documentation, statutory notices, and acquiring the long lead prefab items while collaborating with our own skilled team and our network of specialised subcontractors.

We planned the construction program over two visits, beginning with the installation of underground services and civil engineering work such as foundations, concrete slabs, and drainage during the summer and returning to finish the construction of the grandstand and the prefabricated restroom block during the second visit.

The key works carried out by Nairn were as follows:-

  • 200m of Utility trenches for power and water connections.
  • New foul water drainage connections into existing on site sewerage lines
  • Alterations to existing pitch side spectator fencing and perimeter 5m high ball stop fencing to accommodate the new works
  • Installation of foundations for the toilet block
  • Installation of a new structural concrete slab to site the modular grandstand

  • Reinstatement of existing block paving after completion of the installation of the toilet block
  • Connection of new utility services to the toilet block
  • Chlorination and legionella testing of new water supplies
  • Electrical testing and certification of new services

Results

The work is now complete, and the client has received all required operation and maintenance documents needed to operate the modified facilities. Fans, spectators, and parents have enjoyed using the new amenities at King Edward Park, which have been well received by the local community. We believe that this update will provide Mid Annandale AFC the chance to future-proof the club for many years to come and enable them to continue offering a fantastic service to our community.

It was a great honour for us to have successfully bid and won this contract for our local club.  The volunteers who run this well-established club have provided coaching to many children in the area with many of them going on to play for senior teams in the area.

Testimonial

“From the moment that Nairn Construction Ltd was awarded the contract and initial contact was made with Craig (Nairn) and Michael(Kirkpatrick) we (The Mids) knew we were onto a winner. After our initial meeting a plan was drawn up that gave us a start date and because the work would possibly interfere with the Clubs fixtures and park bookings we were able to alter some arrangements that meant minimum disruption to all the local users.

Once the work started Michael was in constant touch with us keeping us updated on all progress and this was backed up with various on site briefings. At no time was anything a problem and he made it clear we could contact him anytime day or night.

All work carried out was of high quality, completed before the original timeline and with minimum fuss. Nothing was a problem and Nairn Construction Ltd even went beyond the original plan by providing a new safer pathway for supporters to access the new facility at no extra cost, something that is very much appreciated by all connected to Mid Annandale AFC.

Mid Annandale AFC would highly recommend Nairn Construction Ltd to carry out work to anyone who wants a company that delivers a professional job – from initial thoughts to completion – a very safe, tidy, honest job from start to finish and beyond where nothing is a problem. Michael is a huge asset to the company and Craig fronts a team of workers that the company can be very proud of.

Since completion of the grandstand and toilet block we have since used Nairn Construction Ltd to carry out some repair and refurbishment work in our pavilion and once again they fully delivered. Again Michael and Craig attended during the Christmas holiday period and made sure minimum disruption to our quest to deliver a service to the community.

Mid Annandale AFC are very happy to be associated with Nairn Construction Ltd”

Scott McMillan, Chairman – Mid Annandale AFC
