REQUIREMENTS
Nairn Construction was employed directly by the owners of Grange Quarry Limited to Project Manage their new Head Office Construction at their existing Kirkburn Industrial Estate Concrete Batching Plant Site. The project was undertaken by Craig whose remit was to manage all aspects of the build including design, program, procurement, sub contracts, budget, quality and safety.
Grange Quarry is one of the largest suppliers of high quality aggregates and ready mixed concrete in the region.
APPROACH
After reviewing initial designs, Craig further developed the project through sub contractor procurement so that a design team could be forged to develop the initial design concept into reality. He procured the best available servicers through a tendering process inviting reliable sub-contractors ensuring the best value and quality for the client. Working closely with the owners, Craig developed all aspects of the design from the building fabric, layout and function of the office space to the fixtures and fittings.
The responsibilities carried out by Craig in the project management roll were as follows:-
- Design Management of all aspects of the build from the structure through to soft furnishings
- Budget control for the project and updating projected build costs
- Procurement of Sub Contracts
- Planning and Programming of works
- Budget Control & sub contractor payment applications
- Value Engineering to provide value to the client
- Quality Inspections on the works
- Safety Compliance on site
- Health Safety File compilation
- Building O&M manual production
- Snagging control
RESULTS
The completed project was a fantastic achievement of outstanding quality and has provided the client with a purpose built space designed to suit their business needs allowing them to carry out their works in a modern working environment. The new HQ is a clean well laid out space which will see them, their employees and their customer base well into the future.
